Living United is Working Together

February 5, 2015

LIVE UNITED is a call to reach out a hand to one and improve the quality of life for all. It’s about impact, passion and action. In the series “Living United is…”, we share personal posts from our staff about how and why they choose to live united.

Here’s a look at what Sharon Clark, director of legacy giving, has to say about how living united is all about being better, together.

I live united because acting together, we are the solution! What attracted me most about joining United Way here in Jacksonville is the important work that it is doing in this community and the impact it’s achieving through its targeted initiatives in education, income, and health. It’s accomplishing these results with the help of many community partners…working together.

Impact and outcomes allow me to have meaningful conversations with our donors about how leaving their legacy in the community will ensure that these solutions will continue well into the future. They also allow me to feel good about the work we’re all doing each day.

Our region has relied upon United Way for more than 90 years to serve as a catalyst for change and to be a leader in community planning. Mobilizing the caring power of community to improve lives is United Way’s ongoing work. Important issues are identified, addressed and assessed. People’s lives are transformed. From my perspective, living united means together we can find solutions for our community’s needs and focus on building a future that we will want for ourselves and our families. Together we are the solution!

Thanks, Sharon, for your inspiring reflection on living united and for your dedication to communicating the impact of legacy giving.
