Internship Experiences: Traneise

July 22, 2015

By Traneise Wilson

In order for individuals to succeed and to be successful in life one must have: a vision and a plan, priorities in order and take action. In addition to these steps, there are many steps that one must also consider and execute, but these are some of the most important.

Every day I enter CSX, I am grateful for the opportunity that was bestowed upon me. I have been working since I was about 13 years old, and I enjoy it so much. It is an opportunity to gain experience, income, training and responsibility.

For the past two years, I have partnered with United Way and have been given a rare opportunity to work as an intern for a reputable and prestigious company called CSX. I do not take this opportunity lightly, people are always telling me that I am blessed and that they have been trying to get the same opportunity.

Last year, I worked under Mr. Thomas in the Imaging Department. I was responsible for scanning receipts, making sure they were input into the system, working with a spreadsheet and reviewing pertinent paperwork. This year, I am working under Ms. Beggs and Ms. Smith. I have my own office on the 14th floor, and I am supporting Risk Management. I have printed labels, mailed out packages, scanned and input all paperwork into the system and worked on one of the most important projects they have. It is a long and vital project that must be completed.

I enjoyed this year even more than last year because I have been doing different projects and assignments. I also enjoy working with friendly, amiable people. We have the option to explore more working options, and of course, Mr. Thomas takes us out more to see how everything is going and if we are truly learning, gaining and enjoying our work experience.

I believe that I have significantly matured and gained more experience. I notice a change and growth within myself. I have engaged more, asked questions and have given 200% in all that I do. I do my best because I expect nothing less from myself. I know what I am capable of and am a fast learner. I know I can do anything that I put my mind to and contribute great effort.

As a recent honors graduate from the Potters House Christian Academy, I believe that my education, knowledge, and work experience/training will foster countless opportunities in the future. I believe that I am well qualified and prepared to endeavor the real world and continue to blossom into a virtuous and successful young woman. To the individuals affiliated with United Way, thank you for the opportunity and training classes. They have given much valuable insight and information. Again, thank you.
