Exploring the ALICE Experience

Partnerships often yield the most promising results in education and community engagement. Innovative initiatives are born within these collaborative efforts, fostering environments ripe for growth and exploration. The University of North Florida and United Way of Northeast Florida raise awareness and underscore the power of partnership in driving meaningful change. By leveraging their resources, expertise, and networks, we demonstrate their commitment to serving the community beyond the confines of campuses.

ALICE, an acronym for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, represents a significant portion of our community that works hard but struggles to make ends meet. Understanding and addressing ALICE households’ challenges is crucial for building a stronger, more resilient community.

An exclusive event will take place at the FSCJ Deerwood Campus on April 8th at noon. Hosted by UNF, this closed-door gathering offers a unique opportunity to meet ALICE firsthand. “Meet Alice” promises to give attendees a deeper understanding of the struggles and triumphs of individuals and families navigating life on the edge of financial stability.

The ALICE experience is not merely a concept to be studied; it’s a reality that many in our community face every day. UNF and United Way of Northeast Florida foster empathy, understanding and action by bringing together students, faculty and community members. Through workshops, discussions and interactive sessions, participants will gain insights into the complexities of poverty and the systemic barriers that perpetuate it.

Moreover, this event serves as a call to action, inspiring attendees to advocate for change within their communities. By amplifying the voices of ALICE households and championing policies that support economic empowerment, we can work towards creating a more equitable society for all.

Explore ALICE to understand the challenges faced by Northeast Florida households. Spread awareness by sharing this valuable information with your network.
