Are you a changemaker in your community looking for a way to get involved this summer? If so, join United Way for Day of Action. This celebration is an opportunity for people and organizations across the globe to take action to address various community challenges.
Each year, on and around June 21, tens of thousands of people in hundreds of communities worldwide come together for United Way’s Day of Action. It’s a global volunteering event where people can take a small step to make a big difference. For some, it’s stuffing backpacks full of books to encourage reading and improve early literacy. For others, planting community gardens fosters civic pride and promotes affordable, healthy eating. For United Way, Day of Action mirrors our work all year, building stronger, more equitable communities where everyone can thrive.
This United Way Day of Action, join the resident-led North Riverside Community Development Corporation (CDC) and Daily Manna Serving Center as they revitalize Mixon Town, Hollywood and Lackawanna neighborhoods.
With the support of Groundwork Jacksonville, United Way of Northeast Florida and LISC Jacksonville, the North Riverside CDC has been working to ensure residents who have lived in North Riverside for decades and even generations can safely and sustainably remain in their homes, resist gentrification, and take a critical first step toward building wealth and improving their economic mobility. This year’s projects continue the efforts initiated during the MLK Week of Service, emphasizing sustainable, communal spaces.
