This incoming class celebrates the Fellowship’s 20th anniversary
Jacksonville, Fla. (Oct. 2, 2026) – Last night during the annual Stein Fellowship Celebration, United Way of Northeast Florida announced its Stein Fellowship Class of 2027, the Fellowship’s 20th anniversary class. This historic class features 16 rising leaders from diverse professional, educational and leadership backgrounds.
Founded nearly two decades ago in 2007 by philanthropists Linda and the late David Stein, the Stein Fellowship inspires young professionals to commit philanthropically and professionally to our region’s future. This transformative year-long experience strengthens and accelerates Fellows’ leadership through eye-opening programs, hands-on service and multi-generational mentorship. The Fellowship is designed to build leadership capacity, hone core professional development competencies, and create strong relationships with a network of peers and mentors.
Members of the 20th anniversary Stein Fellowship Class of 2027 are:
The 16 selected Fellows will learn from an established community leader and philanthropist – their United Way Tocqueville Society mentor – as well as positively shape the life of a student by serving as a youth mentor. Stein Fellows also participate in professional development, personal growth, networking and social engagements.
Over the last 20 years, more than 250 young professionals have become Stein Fellows, with more than 120 Tocqueville Society members serving as their mentors. Together, these Stein Fellows have raised over $100,000 for United Way and topped 20,000 volunteer hours mentoring more than 200 local youth.
“Two decades of the Stein Fellowship have built a lasting legacy of developing young leaders who care deeply about the future of Northeast Florida,” said Linda Stein. “Nearly 20 years after David and I founded the program, it is incredibly rewarding to see that legacy continue through each new class. These Fellows are carrying forward a tradition of leadership, service and commitment to our community, and I’m excited to see how they will build on what those before them have started.”
Members of the Class of 2027 were selected through a competitive application and interview process. They were chosen based on demonstrated commitment to philanthropy, love for Northeast Florida and passion for community progress. Those not chosen for the Fellowship this year are encouraged to apply again next year and join Atlantic Circle, United Way’s young professionals group.
United Way’s Tocqueville Society consists of the region’s top philanthropists who give more than $10,000 annually to United Way. Sixteen Tocqueville Society members, listed below, will serve as the Fellows’ mentors:
“Every new class of Fellows brings fresh energy, new ideas and a deeper understanding of what our community needs to thrive,” said Melanie Patz, president and CEO of United Way of Northeast Florida. “These emerging leaders learn from one another, build meaningful connections and turn their experiences into action. In this exciting 20th anniversary year, we look forward to seeing how they grow as leaders and the contributions they will make throughout Northeast Florida.”
