United Way statement on DCPS telehealth contract end

July 14, 2026

Free mental health services are still available for local students

Jacksonville, Fla. (July 14, 2026) — United Way of Northeast Florida President and CEO Melanie Patz issued the following statement regarding the conclusion of the Hazel Health contract with Duval County Public Schools:

“For 35 years, United Way of Northeast Florida has served as the backbone organization for the Full Service Schools program, a collaborative community resource model that provides free mental health services to students in Duval County public schools.

“While the Hazel Health telehealth contract with Duval County Public Schools has ended, families should know that free mental health services remain available through Full Service Schools. Every Duval County public school has a mental health therapist available to support students and their families through this longstanding partnership between United Way, Duval County Public Schools and community partners, with funding support from the City of Jacksonville, Kids Hope Alliance, the Lucy Gooding Charitable Foundation Trust and others.

“We know good mental health is essential to student success. Families seeking support should contact their child’s school counselor to connect with a Full Service Schools therapist. For immediate mental health crisis support, dial 9-8-8 to reach the 988 Florida Lifeline, also operated locally by United Way.”
