At age 3, Terrell was struggling with his speech. His mother worried that he was falling behind other children his age. Also going through a divorce, Terrell’s mother was concerned she could not afford the ongoing educational opportunities her son needed.
A friend told her about United Way’s Success By 6 initiative. She applied, and Terrell received a two-year scholarship to a high-quality early learning center. After two years in the program, Terrell has shown great improvements in his speech. He interacts well with other children and recognizes numbers, letters and words. He comes home from school excited to show what new things he learned. Thanks to the high-quality early education he received, Terrell is ready for kindergarten this fall.
