Jill Naponelli

A passionate advocate and community builder, Jill Naponelli has devoted years of service to improving the lives of individuals and families across Northeast Florida. Her volunteer work with Hubbard House spans seven years and includes both frontline service and strategic leadership. Jill began by volunteering on the organization’s 24-hour hotline and assisting with food donation transport, helping ensure survivors and children received immediate support and care. Today, she continues that commitment as a volunteer member of the Hubbard House Board of Directors, influencing decisions that strengthen services for thousands each year. Jill’s impact extends even further through Project May Day, the nonprofit she founded in 2020 to mobilize volunteers and raise funds for local organizations through innovative, community-centered events. Under her leadership, Project May Day has supported multiple nonprofits and contributed an estimated 3,000 volunteer hours. Whether organizing a birthday fundraiser in Klutho Park, leading a neighborhood team for the Stand Up and Stride walk, or connecting nonprofits with pro bono expertise, Jill consistently brings people together for good. Her long-term dedication, collaborative approach and genuine care for others reflect the values at the heart of the People’s Choice Volunteer of the Year Award.

“Hubbard House and many other local nonprofits are stronger because of the volunteerism, advocacy and fundraising support Jill has contributed. When our nonprofits and communities are stronger, Jacksonville overall is stronger. Jill is a champion for that positive change.”

Even in seasons of change for the organization, Lisa remained constant, helping guide smooth transitions so no family went without food. Her influence extends beyond daily operations, as she actively recruits and mentors volunteers and fosters partnerships with churches, schools and donors. In the past year alone, the Food Program served more than 50,000 people, a reach made possible in part by Lisa’s careful planning and collaboration. Humble and service driven, she never seeks recognition, yet her kindness, consistency and ability to bring people together have shaped a program that Northeast Florida families depend on year after year.

“Lisa greets every client with a kind word and a smile and makes certain each neighbor leaves with both nourishment and a renewed sense of hope, directly strengthening the health and well-being of the community.
