Amanda & Hailey’s Success By 6 Story
August 26, 2014
Not long giving birth to her daughter, Hailey, Amanda Reeder was laid off as the economic downturn hit close to home. When it became critical for Amanda to find new employment, her options often meant being overqualified and underpaid—a situation that made affording quality child care for Hailey nearly impossible. Amanda’s sister-in-law told her about a United Way initiative called Success By 6, which provides scholarships to children of hardworking families who are beyond the income threshold for government assistance but still cannot afford high-quality early learning opportunities.
