Tax season doesn’t have to be complicated. We are here to help. RealSense provides free tax preparation services to qualified families and individuals at locations throughout six Northeast Florida counties through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

As United Way of Northeast Florida takes precautions to limit the spread of COVID-19 and works to alleviate its impact, the well-being of our clients and volunteers is always paramount. At this time, all United Way RealSense tax-preparation sites will be closed through March 31. Please do not make an appointment on this website. Please do not call 211 to schedule or re-schedule a RealSense tax appointment. However, 211 is available for all other information and referral services at this time.

The IRS has announced that the filing date has been extended to July 15, 2020. As we get further updates on the continuation of the tax operations, we will post on United Way’s COVID-19 response webpage, as well as on this webpage. Check these webpages for announcements on site re-openings.

United Way staff is in close contact with the IRS regarding the processing of returns and timing of refunds. If you have already filed and are concerned about the status of your refund, please check the IRS Where’s My Refund webpage.

If you feel comfortable preparing your own return, remains available 24/7 for self-filing simple returns at no cost.  It provides phone, email and chat support for any questions you may have during the preparation process.

Identify theft, fraud and scams are very prevalent, especially during tax season. United Way RealSense will never ask you to file your taxes over the phone and never ask you for your Social Security or bank information by phone.
